Quilt Basket has this wonderful program called Cuties. They sell their collections of fabrics in packs of 16 fat eighths. They also designed quilts, bags, etc to make out of Cutie packs.
This is one of their patterns, called Jack's Star. It was designed by Debby Brown. It's not designed as a baby quilt, the finished size is 57 by 75, so I'm thinking of just making the center block, that measures 45 by 45, adding a top and bottom border. That way I could make 2 quilts.
The fabric is from Clothworks... their Safari Sweet collection
Check it out here.... Cutie Pack
I'm thinking 2 smaller quilts. I better get busy cutting.
And in block of the month news.... I finished block two of the Winter Solstice quilt along by Pat Sloan
I'm really loving red and white. it's happy, it's easy, and goodness knows I have plenty of each one to pick from.
I went yesterday to meet with the nice owners of a decorator fabric store in Newtown CT, called Chintz and Prints. They have been in business a long time. I was there about 30 years ago buying fabric for my first apartment. As I walked through the aisles of fabrics, the colors, the textures, WOW. Then I found pillow forms, did you know they make a 10 inch pillow form? I didn't. They had every size you ever want. Zippers of every size, not in colors, but in longer lengths, all kinds of trims, pipings, etc. They want to start sewing classes there. I'm going to make some samples of easy pillows to start with. The nice thing about our BERNINA machines, they will sew any project that comes along. We sure can use our basic sewing skills to make a variety of things.
