Bernard

Bernard is my Q20 sit down long arm quilting machine.  Bernard arrived in October, and we are bonding.  Here is what I love...... EVERYTHING.  Here is what I don't love.... I don't have enough quilts to quilt.    My quilting is so much better, I am not spending as much time as I was.... "repacking".  My BERNINA 780 quilted beautifully, even with it's bigger throat space, I would have to stop, fold the quilt, move it around, fluff it here, fluff it there....
Now, I just put the quilt under Bernard and we are off!

I have entered a new world since he came.  I am now part of the sit down long arm club.  I was lucky enough to take a 2 days workshop with Debby Brown at the Quilt Basket in Pawling NY.  Debby introduced me to the wonderful world of rulers.  When I first saw someone quilt around a ruler, fear struck my heart....  What if the needle hits the ruler, I'd break my machine, etc etc etc.
Well I took the plunge after watching Debby.  I ordered the ruler foot for my Q20 and the set of rulers.  They sat in the box for about a month.  Once Santa left last week, I opened the box.

My dealer, Pins and Needles in Mt Kisco NY, gave me a preprinted panel from Amanda Murphy.  I had never heard of Amanda.  I am now a fan.   The idea is you use this panel to practice the rulers.  Slowly but surely, the rulers and I  have met.  I am having a ball!

Of course once the cat moves I can make more progress.

BERNINA also makes the ruler foot for it's sewing machines.  You can use the same rulers with your sewing machine.  Check at your BERNINA Dealer for this panel.

  1. If you need unfinished quilts to practice on I certainly have some LOL. Looking great. Good Luck.
